WHO'S BEHIND THIS TRIP

Shane Mahoney — Founder, Lugos Travel ·
Since 2011

At 34, Shane had a plan: sell everything, move to France, become a ski instructor.

One conversation with a travel entrepreneur changed that entirely.

He launched Lugos Travel instead — and has spent the 14 years since redefining what a luxury trip can feel like.

Every Lugos Travel itinerary is thoughtfully built from scratch — private guides, curated hotels, cultural experiences that feel local rather than staged. Shane and his team handle every detail so you don't have to think about a single one.

He has been to Peru multiple times, and knows exactly what makes it extraordinary — and exactly what most tourists miss.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Everything you might be wondering

Is Peru safe to travel?

Yes — and being with Lugos Travel makes it even more so. Every destination, route, and venue has been vetted personally. You'll be registered with the U.S. State Department, accompanied by private guides throughout, and have access to a 24/7 local concierge for the entire trip.

Do I need to be physically fit to do this trip?

The pace is moderate and comfortable for most adults. Cusco and Machu Picchu sit at altitude, which can cause mild breathlessness for the first day or two. You'll have time to acclimatize, and your guide will always set a pace that works for the group. No hiking experience is necessary.

What's your cancellation policy?

Full details are included in the proposal. We'll walk you through every term before you commit to anything — no surprises.

Is this really all-inclusive? What's not covered?

Everything listed on this page is included. Personal spending — souvenirs, drinks outside included meals, optional activities — is the only thing you'll pay for separately. Your concierge will be clear about this before you book.

We've never done a group trip. Will it feel crowded or impersonal?

Six couples is the maximum — and it was chosen deliberately. Small enough to feel private and curated, large enough to share the experience with interesting people. You'll never feel like you're on a bus tour.

Why is the price lower than the standard rate?

This departure opened up earlier than expected, and we're offering early access pricing to the first six couples who commit. Once those spots are filled — or mid-July arrives, whichever comes first — the rate returns to $5,910. No catch.

How do I know Lugos Travel delivers what they promise?

Read the reviews above — and notice they come from people across completely different trips and destinations. The consistency is what matters. Every promise made by Shane and his team has been kept, on every trip, for over 14 years.

Some trips you plan. Some trips plan you.

Peru has a way of changing people.

The scale of Machu Picchu, the warmth of the Andean communities, the food, the quiet of the Sacred Valley at dusk.

This is the trip people talk about for years afterward.

Take a quick look at what’s waiting for you.
